Course description:

This is a one day practical course split into two sections aimed at teachers and / or teaching assistants. The morning focuses on the Primary Active Leaders approach to provide teachers with the practical tools to embed leadership within their PE lessons. The afternoon looks at developing leadership beyond the classroom and establishing or developing a clear and inclusive leadership pathway for the school. 

 

Outcomes: by the end of this CPD workshop:

For the practitioner:

An understanding of the link between PE and the development of leadership behaviours through ‘Learning to Lead’, with the opportunity to practically explore a variety of leadership rolesAn opportunity to reflect on the importance of establishing a clear inclusive leadership pathway through increased understanding of the Leadership LadderCreate/develop a clear inclusive leadership pathway, reflecting on current provision and opportunitiesPractical ideas and solutions to embed leadership across the school using PE, physical activity and school sport

 

For the children the practitioner teaches:

High quality PE lessons which develop leadership skills and have clear progression opportunitiesUnderstand the Leadership Pathway that is accessible within their own school and during transition into secondary school

 

Delegate dress code: Wear clothing that you are comfortable moving round in.

                                                                

Pre course task: All delegates will be asked to bring their current leadership pathway (if one is in place) and their whole school priorities.

 

Please bring a bottle of water and your own lunch although there are local shops where lunch can be bought.

 

This course is led by Kim Henderson (BPSI) and we hope that you can send at least one delegate from each school.  The course will also provide some helpful resources for each school that attends.
