BPSS

Within BPSS we offer a range of inclusive opportunities for all young people to be active and participating in sports. Please see the details below for our events held throughout the school year and if you would like to get your child or school involved, we would love to hear from you.

Barnet Bar No One (BBN1)

This is a multi-skill festival designed specifically for children who have a physical disability and/or have learning difficulties. We work with local coaches to run a range of activities such as Polybat, New Age Kurling, Indoor Rowing, Goalball, Boccia and many more. The idea is to allow children to try new and exciting activities and open doors to get more opportunities available within their schools. We run our BBN1 events in February and May with specific dates available for Secondary, Primary and Special schools.

Sitting Volleyball

This is a new sport within School Games and is a fantastic opportunity for all students. There must be six players on court at all times with a minimum of 3 SEND players. The rules are similar to Volleyball with some adaptations including the ball and height of the net. This is a competitive event where Year 5&6 students play in a tournament setting and the winners lead onto London Youth Games. For further information, Sitting Volleyball rules can be found in the resources.

Boccia

Boccia is a fun inclusive sport where students play other teams and try to get their coloured ball closest to the white jack. We hold a primary tournament with the winners continuing onto London Youth Games and there are opportunities for schools to represent Barnet in the under 13s competition.   The competition is a pan disability event and must involve players with severe learning disabilities or physical impairments or profound and multiple impairments in particular wheelchair users. For further information, Boccia rules can be found in the resources.

New Age Kurling

The New Age Kurling tournament is aimed at year 3 and 4 SEND students only. Students play against other teams and work together to get each of their coloured stones closest to the target. This is also a pathway event where the winners lead onto representing Barnet at the London Youth Games. For further information, New Age Kurling rules can be found in the resources.

Primary Panathlon

Primary schools take part in numerous activities to score points from target throwing to working as a team. The national Panathlon programme is an inclusive event aimed at SEND students where all activities are adapted to allow all students to score points. The winning school will go onto represent Barnet at the Panathlon North London finals.

Secondary Panathlon Xtend

Secondary schools take part in numerous activities to score points for their team. The national Panathlon programme is an inclusive event aimed at Secondary SEND students where all activities are adapted to allow all students to score points. All pupils involved receive medals and certificates.
