Primary Welcome Back Update - 22.02.21

Welcome back to the start of Spring term 2. We hope you had a restful and enjoyable half term break, however you chose to spend it.

This short email contains some important information regarding imminent deadlines and virtual CPD courses taking place this week.

The regular BPSS Weekly Primary Update will be sent Thursday, 1pm and will contain all your regular updates and resources which we hope you and your school community continue to find useful.

Empathy Week 2021 – Launches Today

Today marks the start of Empathy Week 2021, this year’s theme focuses on resilience and diversity. Empathy Week is a global annual education programme that uses the power of film to inspire, engage and empower young people into empathetic action. Ensuring every child has the opportunity to become a conscious and empathic leader – leaving school as part of the #EmpathyGeneration.                                                         

Resources are now available for pupils aged 5-18 years old, both in school and at home.

Empathy Week 2021 – Inclusion Resources

The Youth Sport Trust’s (YST) London Inclusion Lead schools have produced resources to support schools to develop young people’s empathy skills through Inclusive Sport linked to the Paralympics. This will be delivered through the Inclusion 2020 Learning & Discovery Personal Challenge days.

YST Coronavirus Support Live (22nd –25th February)

The Youth Sport Trust have created a week of virtual, free to access CPD sessions for teachers and senior leaders to ensure that you get access to the best and most up to date advice and information to help you this term, whether delivering in school or remotely.

TOP Sportsability Virtual Workshop

TOP Sportsability is a free online resource for schools and offers practical advice to teachers, learning support staff and other sports practitioners. It consists of video clips and downloadable content showing ideas and strategies around the inclusion of young people in physical activity, PE and sport.

This free online virtual training will guide you through how to utilise this brilliant resource in your delivery. There are four workshops available to choose from, with the first being delivered this Thursday (25th February).

Health Education Partnership – Spring term 2 Training Offer

Health Education Partnership, commissioned by Barnet Public Health Team, provide free support to early years settings through the Healthy Early Years London (HEY) programme and support to schools through the Healthy Schools (HS) programme. For more information please visit their website.
