The sports listed above are split into two strands, participation and performance;

Participation Events – these competitions are focused purely on mass participation. Your participation data will contribute towards an overall score for Barnet and this will be ranked against the other 32 London boroughs.  The deadline to submit your participation data is 02.07.2021.

Performance Events – whilst these competitions are open to mass participants, there is a performance focus. The winning school from our borough will go onto represent Barnet against the other 32 London boroughs. The deadline to submit your performance data is 18.06.2021.

Please see below some FAQ you might have;

Who are these competitions open to?

These competitions are open to every school within Barnet, regardless of whether you buy into the BPSS partnership or not. The School Games are open to all pupils from Year 3 to Year 11.

How do I find the formats and rules for each sport?

The formats and rules for each sport are published on the LYG website and can be accessed by clicking next to each sport in the table above. LYG have provided adaptations for equipment and space within the formats where possible. They appreciate not all schools will have equipment for all sports, but hopefully across the range of events offered there will be opportunities for all schools.

How do I submit my school's results?

Information regarding submitting results can be found within each sports format and rule document (links in table).

For participation events, schools will need to submit a participation spreadsheet, please return this to your SGO no later than 02.07.2021. We will then collate all the data together and submit Barnet’s overall participation data to LYG.

For performance events schools will need to submit their results alongside a participation spreadsheet to your SGO no later than 18.06.2021. LYG will then publish results shortly after the deadline.

Ideas how to deliver the competition

It’s entirely up to you how you deliver each competition. It could form part of a PE lesson, extra-curricular club or targeted intervention. It could even form part of an intra school competition between year groups or houses.
