BPSS 2018 Sports Awards evening

The best sporting talent from across Barnet descended on the Arts Depot in North Finchley for the 2018 Barnet Partnership for School Sport Awards evening on Wednesday 7th November. The Barnet Partnership for School Sport (BPSS) Team invited all shortlisted nominees and family members to attend this prestigious event, to celebrate the sporting achievements of the 2017/18 academic year. The event was supported by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL).

 

“GLL were pleased to have sponsored such an outstanding event delivered by Barnet Partnership for School Sport and impressed by the excellent achievements by the many school pupils and teachers from across the borough. Congratulations to all the award nominees, we very much look forward to the event next year” - Jalpa (GLL Community Sports Manager).

 

The evening, hosted by Jo Eames (BPSS Strategic Manager) and Kim Henderson (PE Consultant for Barnet School Improvement​) highlighted the key achievements of those shortlisted, before announcing the winner.

 

Guests present in the Pentland Theatre were treated to two superb dance performances. Pupils from Woodcroft Primary School at the start of the evening and then  pupils from St Michael’s Catholic Grammar School at the end of the evening.

 

A massive congratulations to all those individuals and teams who were shortlisted for an award, a list of the award winners are:

 

Young Female Performer of the Year (Primary)  Congratulations to Skye from Akiva School.

 

Young Male Performer of the Year (Primary)  Congratulations to Samuel from St Theresa’s Catholic Primary School.

 

Young Female Performer of the Year (Secondary)  Congratulations to Elena from East Barnet School.

 

Young Male Performer of the Year (Secondary)  Congratulations to Jaiden from Finchley Catholic High School.

 

Primary Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Award – Congratulations to the pupils from Beit Shvidler.

 

Secondary Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Award – Congratulations to the pupils from East Barnet School.

 

Primary Team of the Year – Congratulations to Woodcroft Primary School.

 

Secondary Female Team of the Year – Congratulations to St Michael’s Catholic Grammar School.

 

Secondary Male Team of the Year – Congratulations to Finchley Catholic High School.

 

Innovative Project of the Year – Congratulations to the parent Sue from Akiva School.

 

KS1 Engagement Award  Congratulations to Chalgrove Primary School.

 

The School Games Values Award – Congratulations to Broadfields Primary School.

 

School to Club Link Award – Congratulations to Goldbeaters Primary School and The Orion Primary School.

 

Participation Award – Congratulations to the following Primary and Secondary Schools; Goldbeaters Primary School and Hendon School (West), Chalgrove Primary School and Copthall School (South), St John’s N11 and East Barnet School (East), St John’s N20 and Queen Elizabeth’s Girls’ School (Central)​

 

Outstanding Contribution to School Sport Award – Congratulations to the teacher Hugh Wilkinson from Goldbeaters Primary School and The Orion Primary School.

 

Asked whether they enjoyed the BPSS Sports Awards, one pupil from Woodcroft Primary School commented “we really enjoyed the whole experience and seeing all the young people do so well in Barnet schools”. They also went onto say how proud they were of their school.

 

Nominations will soon be opening for the 2019 BPSS Sports Awards.
