London Youth Games Virtual Games (8th June – 3rd July)

The LYG Virtual Games are open to all children and young people from London, competing across twelve different challenges to earn points for their Boroughs. #TeamBarnet had a fantastic week last week, recording two silver and one bronze position across the three challenges. As a result, we catapulted up the leader board from 13th position (64pts) to 5th position (159pts).

A massive well done to the following schools who submitted their results in week 2.

Primary; Holly Park, Holy Trinity, Livingstone, Monkfrith, Parkfield, St Agnes and Wessex Gardens

Secondary; Finchley Catholic, Friern Barnet, Hendon, Henrietta Barnett, Mill Hill County, North London Grammar, St Andrew the Apostle and Wren Academy)

This week’s three challenges included, Hit Every Beat dance challenge, Bicycle Crunch challenge and Indian Dribble Hockey challenge. We await the results which should be released at 5pm today, keep an eye on our Twitter page for these.

As we enter the fourth and final week it’s not too late for your school to get involved, for more details and how you can get involved please click here.

Primary PE & Sport Premium - #dontcutPE

The health and future wellbeing of the nation’s children and young people is crucial. The Primary PE & Sport Premium is a crucial element in supporting, promoting and delivering the importance of early and positive habits in PE, sport and physical activity.

This week has seen a heavy media campaign using the hashtag #dontcutPE, which has seen many influential figureheads in the sports industry help push for a positive outcome in the continuation of the £320 million package and highlighting the potentially catastrophic consequences if this package is cut just as an activity crisis among young people has worsened dramatically during the Coronavirus pandemic.
