Panathlon

Panathlon is a charity that provides sporting opportunities to over 17,500 disabled young competitors every year

Over 1,000 schools across the country take part in ‘mini Paralympic’ multi-sport competitions for secondary or primary school children, along with dedicated football, boccia and swimming programmes. This has been extended further this year with 16+ competitions for College students. Panathlon has in the last few years trained thousands of young leaders (3,931 in 2018) aged 14-19, who act as sports officials for Panathlon competitions.

Multi Sport Primary

The Primary Panathlon programme provides an introduction to Panathlon for 5-11-year olds, through a team competition that builds foundation skills in a range of Panathlon sports. Primary Panathlon sports include parachute popcorn, polybat, precision bean bag, new age kurling, boccia blast, flight path, skittles, slam dunk, Messi football skills and table cricket

Multi Sport Secondary

The Panathlon Challenge runs ‘mini Paralympic’ multi-sport events, providing the opportunity for competitive sport to thousands of disabled young people every year. A regular multi-sport competition sees four teams compete over six rounds, featuring the following sports: Boccia Polybat, Table cricket, New age kurling, Athletics field events and Athletics races

Swimming

The primary purpose of the Panathlon swim programme is to introduce severely disabled young people to water experiences for the first time.

Football

The Panathlon Football programme is an introduction to football for Panathletes with severe learning difficulties (SLD), for Powerchair users and for visually impaired footballers.

Boccia

The Panathlon Boccia programme delivers boccia coaching and competitions across London as part of our multi-sport programme and specific boccia events. They also deliver boccia training, which includes courses on officiating and eligibility.
